Foster Care

UnitingCare Community aims to recruit, train and support foster carers who will provide safe, caring environments for children and young people under protective orders or subject to protective concerns. UnitingCare Community aims to create safe, caring, family environments for children and young people that will assist them to heal from the trauma of abuse and attachment losses in their lives and re-connect with their families, culture and communities in positive ways.

We aim to:

  • Recruit, train and support foster carers who are able to care for and meet the needs of children placed with them in their own family home or otherspecialist living arrangements where provided. 
  • Assist children and young people experience a safe, caring, predictable living environment with trustworthy adult carers. 
  • Strengthen their emotional and psychological well being. 
  • Improve their social skills and ability to positively interact with peers and adults, including learning responsibility for self. 
  • Participate in community life and access the resources they need. 
  • Build cultural/spiritual awareness through family living and other mentoring experiences. 
  • Support them in achieving better educational & vocational outcomes.
  • Assist with building positive family relationships and re-connecting/re-unifying wherever possible and appropriate.
