
UnitingCare Community's Vacation Care Program operates from 8am - 5pm from:
To participate in the Vacation Care program, your child must be of school age 5-18 years and have a diagnosed disability. Our policy of inclusion endeavors to understand and provide for the individual needs of your child. Depending on your child’s support needs we may require your cooperation and assistance to meet your child’s needs.
The service will do their best to incorporate all children however are unable to jeopardise the safety of the child or other children and staff. If through consultation an acceptable level of safety cannot be provided the parent/carer will be requested to make other suitable arrangements.
We run our service on a maximum one staff to three children ratio however; dependent on your child’s needs, the ratio may be lower. For example, it is possible to operate one staff for one child.
Our staff all have experience working with children with additional needs and all hold current First Aid, Blue Card and a variety of other procedure certificates such as gastrostomy feeding, behaviour management and diabetes.
Fees are $75 per day less CCB. CCB (Child Care Benefit) is means tested and families are required to register with the Family Assistance Office on 136 150, or full fees will apply. More information about the Child Care Benefit can be found on the Family Assistance Office website.
Upon enrolment of your child the Client Services Officer will calculate a quote of your daily fee, based on this percentage. Please note that Department of Communities - Disability Services or other support organisations may be invoiced for the fees (subject to approval). Further bookings are subject to payment in full.
All medications must be in a Webster pack, unless in liquid form. For Liquids a Chemist label in the child’s name with dosage and time must be attached for liquid and PRN medications. A Medication Kit must be completed and returned before care will commence for your child. Medications must also be signed for and must match all relevant documentation. Any changes to their medication or health details must be confirmed with the Client Services Officer.
Our vacation care service has a number of medical procedures kit that must be completed before care is commences including; Gastrostomy Feed, Epilepsy Management, Allergy management, Diabetic Management and other medical management. To obtain any of these kits please inform the Client Services Officer upon enrolling.
