NAIDOC Week 2011!
From the outback to the islands, from the rivers to the reefs, together UnitingCare Community celebrates NAIDOC Week 2011
NAIDOC Week is an event that’s held every July to celebrate and commemorate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders.
UnitingCare Community staff have often been involved in NAIDOC week in the past, actively supporting their local community at various events, and this year, UnitingCare Community is again proudly supporting NAIDOC Week.
Please look out for our stall at your community event where you can get involved in a range of activities, find out about Lifeline programs and events in your region and purchase a limited edition NAIDOC-designed t-shirt. You can buy one right now from our online store.

UnitingCare Community's NAIDOC Week Steering Committee, a valuable initiative established for NAIDOC Week 2010, has inspired future work in the area of Indigenous employment and service delivery issues with the aim of developing a UnitingCare Community Indigenous Employment Strategy as well as an Indigenous Care Strategy and cultural awareness training for staff.
UnitingCare Community is committed to closing the gap in life expectancy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We value the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our organisation and endeavour to create a future that is just, equitable and diverse.
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan we will build on the work of NAIDOC to bring about a culture of sensitivity in our organisation and better accessibility of our programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state.
Part of our involvement in NAIDOC Week 2011 was to distribute the beautiful posters and postcards statewide. You may have seen our NAIDOC posters in your local Lifeline Shop.![]()
UnitingCare Community allocated money to this year's event to fund a stall at Musgrave Park Family Fun Day that will include face painting, giveaways such as bags and magnets, and sell great NAIDOC-design t-shirts that can be worn all year round.
Please revisit this page in the coming weeks to read stories from our staff members about their experiences this NAIDOC Week, and view photos of our celebrations of NAIDOC Week 2011!
