UnitingCare Community’s generalist counselling service offers face-to-face counselling for individuals across a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, grief and loss, parenting difficulties, depression, anxiety, and any other issue which is having a negative impact on someone’s life.
The generalist service is mostly funded through our shops and some services receive some amounts of government funding. However, this does not address the demand for this service so appointments to see a face-to-face counsellor may be limited. To contact crisis support immediately, please call Lifeline’s 24-hour Crisis Line on 13 11 14.
Lifeline’s 24-hour Crisis Counselling Line has been active in Queensland for over 45 years. The service provides immediate and anonymous help. Somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline every minute. Our trained telephone counsellors are there to provide counselling, care and support 24 hours a day.
Some of the issues that people call Lifeline about include:
Specialist counselling programs and support groups are also available throughout the state. Bundaberg and Brisbane both run school counselling programs to ensure children have access to the support they need during their formative years.
Other specialist programs include anger management groups, parenting programs, self-esteem groups, and critical incident counselling. Video counselling is also available to remote communities.
